OUR HISTORY

Di Pilla's Italian Restaurant was founded in 1967 by Tonino and Giuseppina Di Pilla using their family recipes from back home in Italy. Tonino and Giuseppina arrived in America in 1958, from Pacentro, a small village in the province of Abruzzo, Italy. They started the restaurant in Rosemead while raising their three young daughters, Claudia, Franca, and Diana. Today, they are the proud grandparents of 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In 1979, their daughter Claudia Di Pilla took over running the restaurant and has been the owner ever since. Claudia continues to serve the Italian dishes that her parents brought from Pacentro long ago. For many years, Claudia's late husband Bruno Ramunno (married 1987), ran the restaurant alongside her. He was a great cook and implemented many wonderful new recipes at Di Pilla's that remain on the menu today. Bruno was known to visit with his customers, discussing food, soccer and how to enjoy life. Claudia and Bruno have two wonderful children, Daniela and Dante.

Claudia has helped her community by providing discounts to schools, sponsored soccer teams, and donated gift certificates to a variety of fund raisers. Her heart and passion is to serve her Lord, Jesus Christ.

Statewide recogniation: 2010, Di Pilla's was chosen by Assemblyman Mike Eng to be honored at the California Small Business Day. Claudia received her award in Sacarmento by Governor Arnold Schwarazenagger.
